Week 4A: Websites-Positive v. Negative Analysis

Negative Analysis

Penny Juice:

Penny Juice has a terrible landing page.  I see nothing about the purpose of the website, only if I prefer to use flash or HTML.  Once I got to a landing page I could view, the links are confusing, looking mushed together as one link.  After exploring some of the content website links too, I have a head ache.  The writing is hard to read, and I'm still not sure what Penny Juice is.

Gate Openers Gate

This landing page is very busy.  There are too many font colors making it hard to differentiate between content and links on the landing page. Upon going further into the website, I was faced with more and more links, making it hard for a laymen to understand all the parts of this gate product.

Positive Anaylysis

NPS

National Parks Service has a great landing page.  It looks clean, all the text reads clear, and there is good color coordination for both "earthy branding" and legibility. The site is also easy to navigate, I can find information about specific parks, or even plan a trip.

Apple

Apple's website has a beautiful, artsy design. I can easily access their greatest, newest products from their landing page.  The entire website feels like a carefully crafted ad.

Comments

  1. I never opened the National Parks Service page until now and I completely agree with you. Super clean layout, very well organized, great colors! Everything easy to read and find. On the other hand, I did open the Penny Juice page and it was very hard to navigate.

    thanks for sharing!

  2. I agree with you the Gate openers website is not built professionally. The content of the page is entire text, it is scattered all over the page. The site is too busy and the fonts are small. There are various different unorganized content in the home page that makes hard to find a content in homepage.

  3. Agreed, I used to work for Apple and their design as products improve gets better as years progress. There are so many hidden websites available as well on the site! It's fun to discover new things. I also took a look at the Gates and Fences site, it really hurt my eyes! I enjoyed looking at the Parks page as well. Makes me want to get outside.
