8B: Comparing Visual Networks
The visual social media platforms from the lecture are all massively useful in private life as well as for business. Some of these platforms such as Pinterest and Snapchat I had previously only considered for personal use. However, on further review many companies use Snapchat "channels" and "discover" as an advertisement platform to keep consumers informed on product updates in addition to making the consumer feel "included."
Upon review of these eight platforms it still seams the most effect means of social media for business are Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and Instagram. The other four platforms have roadblocks for the professional world including being both less popular and less easy to use. For example, Pinterest is a great app that can be described as a visual blog, however, it is much easier to send a "call to action" across through Instagram over Pinterest or even Tumblr.
For my business, a local political consulting firm, I would chose to prioritize using Facebook, Instagram, Google +, and Tumblr. While I do not qualify the latter two as some of the most useful platforms for business, Google + is useful for building a professional profile when using google apps. AS for Tumblr, there is a more complicated interface for the immediate gratification of consumer "click through", Tumblr is a relevant platform/blog for campaign staff and others in my industry.
